Jacques Rancière is Emeritus Professor at the department of philosophy at University of Paris VIII. Known as an early disciple of Marxist philosopher Louis Althusser, he founded the journal, Les Revoltes Logiques. Best known as the author of La Nuit des prolétaires (1981) or The Night of Labor Workers, La Mésentente (1995) or Disagreement, Aux bords du politique (1998) or On the Shores of Politics and Le Partage du sensible. Esthétique et politique (2000).
