Eran Sachs

Eran Sachs is a curator, musician and sound artist with a classical upbringing, living in Jerusalem. Sachs is the curator of the musical program of Hazira Performance.art and is one of Israel’s most prominent experimental musicians. After working with the radical action group Reframe, Sachs has focused on political struggle through radicalizing the cultural discourse.

His work was presented in venues all over the world, including Podewil, Recycle art, Haus der Culturen (in Transmediale 03) and others. His work “Studio” – a collaborational effort with sculptor Eytan Ronel and performance artist Noa Hyman was awarded “The Excellence Award” at the 2001 New-York Fringe Festival.

Started off playing Death Metal and Grind Core music, then moved on to experimental. Lately has been focusing on playing his self-developed electronic instrument, which consists of a sound mixer with no external source.

Eran Sachs writes and lectures about new music. His publications have appeared in Israeli art magazines as well as in the WIRE.

His music has been released on local Israeli labels as well as on Gemany’s Mille Plateaux. In recent years, Sachs has been collaborating extensively with Frankfurt based musician Sebastian Meissner (Random INC., Klimek ). Over the last year played with musicians such as Thomas Koener, Achim Wollscheid, Mark Beherns and sound artists such as Christoff Schlegel.

Eran Sachs participated in John Zorn's "Cobra" improvised ensemble @ Hazira Performance.art Jerusalem in 2003. He founded and managed the Yad-Vashem bookstore - the only holocaust dedicated bookstore in Israel.

Eran Sachs has co-founded of the now defunct "eFrame", a Jerusalem based Collective for Re-Defining the relationships Between Art and Politics, Culture and Social involvement. His most recent work "Yanoon Yanoon" (in collaboration with Niv Hachlili, Aviad Albert and Ariel Efron) is documenting a Palestinian village in the West-Bank.
